About the Position: This position serves as a Security Specialist for the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command. The Army's Face to the World, the one-stop focal point for Army FMS, and the international partner of choice in U.S. security assistance.

Duties

Ensure the Emergency Action Plans (EAP) are updated and coordinate EAP drills on an annual basis. Manages the day-to-day operations to include physical security, Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism, operational security (OPSEC), Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Emergency Management. Serve as the multi-disciplinary Security Officer responsible for the development, implementation and management of all aspects of a comprehensive protection program. Participate in various exercises to ensure mission readiness. Maintain all access control programs including key control and badging.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • The position requires DoD SC Workforce (SCW) Certification. The incumbent must complete certification-related training requirements in the SC Area of Concentration (AoC) within the timeframe associated with the position’s SCW certification level.

Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting inspections and assessments to address security concerns; providing security awareness training to personnel; implementing established security policies, practices, procedures, and techniques; and managing physical security equipment, systems, and technology to include programs involving Antiterrorism/Force Protection, Emergency Management, and Continuity of Operations Plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support with research, review, and/or interpretation of personnel and operations security policies and guidance for program oversight; conducting inspections and assessments to address security concerns; providing security awareness training to personnel; implementing established security policies, practices, procedures, and techniques; and managing physical security equipment, systems, and technology to include programs involving Antiterrorism/Force Protection, Emergency Management, and Continuity of Operations Plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
