Duties

Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives Performs a variety of duties including assembly/disassembly, test, replacement or repair of electrical, electronic and mechanical components of missiles and ordnance systems. Assembles components into complete all-up missiles, using special purpose test gear, hand tools and handling equipment. Inspects build-up operations and records readings, performance data, age life data and calculations on special forms. Destroys a variety of explosives, ammunition and propellants Demonstrating a variety of procedures specific to the particular items being destroyed. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and starts work.

During fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms. Working Conditions: Work is performed on the demolition range and outside on ramps and storage areas when weather is often inclement. There are assignments where dirt, grease, noise, and odors are often disagreeable. Required to wear protective clothing which is specially made and treated for working on explosives; including safety shoes, glasses, gas masks, and coveralls. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea.
