The primary purpose of this position is to operate a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 10,000 pounds to transport cargo on and off' base and. as required, passengers.
Duties
Drives one or more types or light trucks, such as pickup trucks, step vans, flatbed trucks, etc
Performs operator maintenance.
Maintains records and documents.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
As required, drives one or more types of passenger vehicles such as sedans, vans, crew cab pickup trucks, and station wagons on the basis of specific trip assignments or regular schedules.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-5703 MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR more than normal without supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of up to 10,000 pounds, such as pickup trucks. step vans, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, station wagons, etc. Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo.
2. Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle operation.
3. Ability to operate a forklift. Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read road maps to determine the shortest and safest route. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., related to operation, loading and unloading, and preventive maintenance of motor vehicles.
4. Reliability and dependability to meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules.
5. Knowledge of passenger safety rules including those regarding the use of seatbelts.
6. Ability to communicate orally and be courteous and responsive to the needs of the passengers.
Physical Effort
Physical effort ls moderate. Work require, reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing, Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 30 pounds and heavier objects with assistance or use of a forklift.
Working Conditions
Driven work mostly outside and operate vehicle& in all kinds or traffic and weather conditions on public roads, and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems, Subject to excess heat and dry atmospheric conditions. Drivers are exposed to dust, dirt, fumes, and the possibility of cuts and bruises as a result of 1accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
