About the position: This position will be assigned to the 30 FSS Community Serivces Flight- Bowling Center.
Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
Duties
Executes a variety of basic cooking tasks, including the preparation and cooking of items that require minimal processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares hot cereals and broiled meats, as well as concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, gravies, and creates cold sandwich fillings. Handles convenience items like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets, with some cooks at this level also preparing and baking pizza. Prepares food through various methods including peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Measures and assembles ingredients for menu items, sets up and restocks the salad bar, portions food for service, and stores leftovers according to established protocols. Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- To be considered for this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.
- This position requires the incumbent to have a Food Handler's Certificate or complete a Food Handler's training upon being hired.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic.
Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required.
Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
May be required to work holidays, weekends and an uncommon tour of duty.
Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages.
Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training and DRAM shop training.
Position is a position of trust.
Required to complete the following Pre-Employment Task:
Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background investigation.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.

Education
