You will serve as a NURSE (CASE MANAGER) in the EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL GROUP (EODGRU) TWO STRIKE FORCE RESILIENCY PROGRAM of EXPLSV ORD DISP GROUP TWO.

Duties

You collaborate with the Force Resiliency Program (FRP), Human Performance and Wellness (HPW) directorate personnel, and medical providers, to conduct health assessments and synthesize a plan of care for patient’s healthcare needs. You will Introduce innovative nursing techniques, practices, and approaches in collaboration with healthcare providers. You will identify educate, plan, and coordinate care through programs designed to provide efficient, comprehensive, and cost-effective service for case managed patients. You will educate patients and members of the healthcare delivery team about case management, healthcare and treatment options, community resources, insurance benefits, and psychological concerns. You will provide formal and informal consultations, briefings, and educational offerings to commanders and patients. You will provide first-level review of durable medical equipment, home health consults, and the coordination of civilian care transfers. You will facilitate positive healthcare outcomes for transitioning service members and healthcare teams by encouraging patients to utilize available healthcare services. You will ensure clinical guidelines are achieved and meet regulatory and policy requirements. You will participate in the identification of processes, systems, and practice metrics; and in determining measures of care outcomes for the population served. You will assist with improving the cost effectiveness for the civilian/military health care delivery system by streamlining care access and working with medical providers to prevent unnecessary testing/procedures.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is a TIER ONE clinical care provider. Applicants must possess at least a master's or doctoral degree.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for the NURSE (CASE MANAGER)-GS-0610-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in hospital administrative operations and procedures and how they interact with clinical and administrative information systems, which includes matters pertaining to budget, personnel, credentialing, and an understanding of the configuration and management of hospital data and information of patient care, demographics, workload, and costs. Experience with neurocognitive assessment and healthcare management provided to traumatic brain injury casualties during military operations, such as would be gained through extended graduate study or specific job-related experience, and skill in identifying patient needs for referral to appropriate healthcare providers or healthcare programs. Experience with health care management principles, managed care, utilization management, utilization review, disease management, discharge planning, case management, demand management, health promotion and quality improvement processes and techniques to recognize needs for improvement and offer solutions to a wide variety of management problems. Experience principles of healthcare provided to psychiatric and injury casualties during military operations across all healthcare functional areas to develop comprehensive data collection strategies. Experience coordinating with USFF, NECC, Military Treatment Facilities, and other U.S. entities, facilitating best use of DoD resources to improve Nurse Case Management Programs. Experience with case management practices and procedures to analyze the full scope of problems associated with providing appropriate, cost-effective care to DoD beneficiaries. Knowledge, skill, and ability to use basic office automation and information management equipment and programs, (i.e., word processing, database, email, etc.) and to input, track and evaluate data for outcome management purposes. Applicants must possess a graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools).

Passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
AND
Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
