Duties
In this position, you will:
Design experiments to characterize the reliability of electronic materials and devices based on wide band gap or 2D materials using analytical methods, including but not limited to spectroscopic and electron microscopy tools
Perform testing of microelectronics, electronic materials, electronics devices or semiconductor materials
Demonstrates technical competency in performing analytical measurement methods including proper measurement protocols
Communicate and collaborate with team members, other NIST teams, and external teams
Prepare, present and publish results

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
AND
In addition to the basic requirements: Applicants must also have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 (ZP-II at NIST) level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in
microscopy, spectroscopy, or other analytical materials characterization tools
testing microelectronics, electronic materials, electronics devices or semiconductor materials
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
A combination of graduate education and specialized experience as defined in the additional requirements

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
