This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Work-Life Department, in Clearwater FL. 

Duties

The incumbent serves as the Coast Guard Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) in his/her geographic area of responsibility. The incumbent plans, directs, consults, monitors, coordinates, organizes, trains, networks, publicizes and budgets all program components including training, mandatory reporting, and support services. The position also supports a team approach to addressing other behavioral health issues across a broader range of programs, to include Family Advocacy, Employee Assistance, Health Promotion, Substance Abuse Prevention, and other pertinent health service programs. Being a CG Civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:  *Administer, plan, direct, educate, develop, implement, market, train, and consult on all aspects of the CG Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. *Address SAPRP support services delivery and implementation issues. *Coordinate and conduct standardized SAPRP trainings. *Provide and/or coordinate interventions and follow-on coordination of care as required in all referrals of sexual assault. *Complete reporting requirements for incidents of sexual assault. Coordinate the Victim Witness Assistance Program and assign Victim Advocates as needed for victim assistance.

  • Must acquire and maintain National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP).
  • You MUST submit transcripts to receive consideration
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires a Secret Clerance.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

IOR Basic RequirementsDegree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the Basic Requirement, applicants must meet the Specialized Experience Requirement: To be considered at the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Some examples of specialized experience include utilizing knowledge of social services delivery systems to prevent and respond to sexual assault; provide specialized sexual assault prevention and response training to internal and external customers; provide assistance in locating services for victims; and providing feedback regarding resource needs to maintain sexual assault prevention and response programs.Incumbent must acquire and maintain the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) credential, offered through the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA). Must obtain credentials within 1 year and maintain the credentials without lapse.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
