Duties

You will maintain, adjust, install, repair and open locks, vaults, safes of all kinds, locking systems, latches, door knobs, door handles, panic devices, electrical door locks, cypher locks, mechanical and electromechanical locks, etc. You will restore repairable locks to operating condition by disassembling, cleaning, and replacing worn, bent, or broken parts. You will set and change combination locks as requested by authorized customers to include, but not limited to, safes, vaults, and doors. You will establish and maintain master key coding systems and code all keying to facilitate the use of one master key. You will provide emergency lock services for incidents requiring entrance into offices, barracks, safes, and any other areas or equipment that is secured using a combination, key, cypher or electronic lock.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a GSA Authorized Safe and Vault Technician Certification.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: setting and changing combination locks, safes, vaults and doors; establish and maintain master key coding systems; duplicate and re-issue keys.
