New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) is currently recruiting Two (2) Supervisory Medical Support Assistant for the fast paced, growing service: Health Administration Service. The NMVAHCS strives to provide the highest quality primary, secondary and tertiary health care to its beneficiaries through a compassionate, innovative health care system, excellent training and education of health care professionals, and effective use of available resources.

Duties

The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) will be assigned to the Health Administration Service. Duties may be performed in Clinic Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), Inpatient, Call Center, Outpatient Clinic, or Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model or a Specialty Care Setting involved in a PACT model. The Supervisory MSA performs duties related to the receipt, intake, and indexing of health and administrative information. The Supervisory MSA will interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as numerous VISTA applications. The Supervisory MSA will direct programs at medical center and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate MSA team leader or supervisor. Assignments include, but are not limited to: Assigning and Evaluating the Work of Subordinate Staff. Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met. Evaluating new products, equipment and systems in order to make recommendation for improved operations. Identifying educational or training needs. Making final decisions on selections. Evaluating Performance and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Extracting and analyzing data in order to provide reports in support of performance measure to senior management. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Work Schedule may be subject to change upon Service Line's Needs) Telework: Not Available. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: MSAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, paragraph 3.j. Experience and Education: (1) Experience. Six months experience of clerical, office, [customer service], or other [administrative] work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR, (2) Education. One year above high school; OR, (3) Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable.
