About the Position: This Interdisciplinary GS-12 position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Engineering and Construction Division Rio Grande Area with a duty station location of Corpus Christi, TX.
This duty station location has an approved special pay rate table 0801 for the following series, 0810,083, 0850, with a salary range of $96,773 to $125,801.
Duties
Oversight of contract construction and administration of various facilities within the area of responsibility of the Area Office.
Provide leadership, guidance, advice and assistance and will organize, assign, and control the work of a team typically consisting of three or more engineers and/or construction quality assurance personnel.
Study and recommends changes in design and/or construction to suit existing field conditions.
Discuss proposed operations to ensure that operation plans are in accordance with approved construction practices.
Render technical interpretations of plans and specifications.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires overnight travel. Trips are usually not longer than 2-3 nights duration and would not exceed 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In addition to meeting the one of the Basic Requirements above, applicants must meet the following specialized experience:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following duties related to civil and/or military construction projects: 1) Review contract plans for statutory regulation compliancy. AND/OR 2) Analyze modifications to contract plans and specifications; AND/OR 3) Process contract modifications, claims, and cost estimates associated with construction and supporting activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
