About the Position: This position is located at the Soldier Support Institute (SSI), Fort Knox, Kentucky. Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown.
Duties
Responsible for the control and coordination of all required actions to support the successful operation and management of the Defense Travel System (DTS) program.
Responsible for all Recruiting and Retention College (RRC) military(students and cadre) and civilian employees.
Monitors travel advances, voucher submissions, and forwards all debt collections to the Fort Knox Debt Management Office.
Serves as a Defense Travel Administrator for Recruiting and Retention College (RRC) located on Fort Knox.
Prepares all travel orders based on the traveler’s request, funds availability, and expert knowledge of authorizations IAW the joint travel regulation (JTR).
Serves as site coordinator for the Defense Travel System (DTS) of the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 5% of the time.
- Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee.
- Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
- FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED - must be able to obtain this certification within 24 months from hire date.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: includes 1) ensuring each travel requests match with organizational policies and procedures; 2) assisting cardholders with financial institutions when resolving credit card problems or delinquent accounts; 3) referring customers to the appropriate guidelines concerning travel regulations and debt collection procedures; AND 4) inputting budget data on a continuous basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting or Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
