To serve as a security assistant assigned to the Pass & Registration Section of the Plans & Programs Flight and to process various security related documentation including requests for issuance of Contractor Access Badges, Proximity Badges, identification credentials, as well as other documents to include vehicle registrations, vehicle passes and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards and passes.
Duties
1. Processes applications and issues identification cards contract access badges, vehicle registration, and temporary passes to eligible personnel. Receives and verifies personal identification data against authorization document, and prepares identification cards, badges, passes, vehicles permits or other forms to authorized access.
2. Maintains controlled forms. Maintains control logs for identification cards and contractor access badges for maintenance and destruction of accountable forms in accordance with applicable AF instructions.
3. Carries out routine, miscellaneous clerical tasks. Performs clerical support duties to ensure efficient office operations. Reproduces and assembles copies of a variety of correspondence.
4. Provides general customer service. Focuses on responsive and accurate customer service within the Pass & Registration/Visitors Center environment.

- This position requires shift work by the employee which may require other than normal duty hours. It may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Typing and computer operation is performed, however, a qualified typist is not required.
- May be required to perform vehicle scans using the Vehicle Scanning System for vehicles requesting entry into the installation.
- Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs. This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions.
- Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-0086, Security Clerical and Assistance Series.
General Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience required for GS-04 level positions. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. NOTE: Your resume must show experience.
OR
EDUCATION: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of mission, policy processes, procedures, and customer service goals sufficient to perform the routine, procedural work of the Pass & Registration Section, as well as knowledge of general office clerical functions.
2. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorized documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits or other forms of authorization.
3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; and produce a variety of documents and reports.
4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others and accomplish multiple ongoing projects.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
