Duties
Provides technical advice, policy clarification, assistance and direction to Security Managers, Special Security Representatives and Program
Security Officers.
Reviews and analyzes Fixed Facility Checklist completion, self-inspection reports, work requirements, and requests for concept approvals.
Develops, plans and implements physical security policies and procedures affecting programs and operations.
Reviews documentation to ensure compliance with applicable directives on security alarms, alarm tests and security violations.
Evaluates security programs and develops solutions to security problems.
Plans and conducts security assistance visits, inspections and reviews of supported facilities to ensure all physical security practices and compliance requirements are met.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This is position requires Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- This position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification This is a designated drug testing position.
- This position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program.
- The individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
Qualifications
Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience evaluating and making recommendations for the implementation of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) physical security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of an organization's personnel, material, and equipment; overseeing Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)/SCI accreditation requirements for construction projects; and providing guidance to lower graded security specialists.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.
