About the Position:Serves as ACS Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs. This position is located in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Provide referrals for specialized support and follows up on actions to ensure appropriate linkage for Soldiers and Families for Deployment and reunions Evaluate services needs, training, and/or coordination with other agencies to determine resolution. Interview, counsels, and advises individuals and families on all facets of the ACS and deployment

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance/background investigation.
  • Requirement of Temporary Duty Occasional travel.

Basic Requirement Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing trainings on community services such as: Mobilization and deployment Services, Family Readiness Groups and crisis intervention; 2) Developing needs assessments and/or educational materials to inform leadership of available resources; 3) Communicating with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the family readiness related services; AND 4) Establishing public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
