You will serve as an INVESTIGATOR in the INSPECTOR GENERAL OFFICE of NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND.

Duties

You will investigate and provide/arrange for investigative services to obtain facts and information relative to violations of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. You will review allegations of all hotline complaints and provides advice, assistance, and make recommendations to the NETC IG and Deputy IG. You will mentor and coach investigators throughout the course of an investigation. You will review all investigative reports to ensure that the quality and manner in which the investigation was performed meets all standards and directives as required. You will review all incoming hotline complaints and focuses on reviewing the data introducing allegations, writing the allegations, preparing an investigation plan and determining the scope of the investigation to be conducted. You will perform Command Inspection Program duties to support the NETC Command Inspection Manager (CIM).

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Incumbent must complete the NAVINSGEN Basic Investigation Course with six months of assignment and complete annual training requirements established by NAVINSGEN to maintain investigator certification.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing Investigative services to obtain facts and information relative to DoD violations of fraud, waste and mismanagement; 2) Participating in a Military Command Inspection Team to review policies, processes, performance, and resource management; 3) Analyzing command inspection reports and information to identifying issues/trends and determine recommendations for improvement; and 4) Reviewing information submitted through the Hotline Complaint program and determining an appropriate course of action based on the allegation.
