You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the STRIKE WEAPONS DIVISION, DIGITAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER PORT HUENEME DIVISION.
Duties
You will design, develop, modify, test, and evaluate large-scale critical computer software, and/or hardware in support of combat weapons systems.
You will develop problem-orientated and nonprocedural languages and their translating/operating systems, construct input-output
buffering schemes, and design automatic scheduling and monitoring methods.
You will develop advanced concepts of automation and information processing for display, control, and transfer of data.
You will develop methods to implement efficient computer algorithms to support complex data structures.
You will perform computer systems engineering, including simulation, modeling, analysis to evaluate the capability of proposed software and hardware designs.
You will devise computer engineering solutions and resolve problem areas based on overall system requirements.
You will perform and document Software/Hardware Quality Assurance processes, methods, and techniques used to develop/modify computer programs use for combat weapon systems, sub systems, and/or equipment.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Software Developer, proficiency level Basic. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Qualifications
For the GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Computer Scientist managing computer software design and development projects to coordinate the testing and evaluation of shipboard combat systems for a warfare program.
For the GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS- grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Computer Scientist analyzing computer software project requirements to design, develop, and test shipboard combat systems for a warfare program.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
