This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves in the HQDA G-3/5/7 Strategic Operations (DAMO-SO) Directorate, Mission Command Support Element (SOM) Division as an Operations Research Analyst, responsible to the DAMO-SO Director and Division Chief, SOM.
Duties
Present briefings to senior officials.
Manage the analysis efforts within the study team.
Investigate data trends and anomalies from a vast set of data.
Provide recommendations to Army senior leaders and stakeholders to support operational, policy, and financial decisions.
Consult with mission area leadership/subject matter experts to collect, collate, analyze program operations data.
Develop and execute the strategy for gathering and analyzing data to drive meaningful results for the mission.
Conduct definitions of problems and questions to ensure requests for analytical support are clear and pertinent.
Develop methodology to address defined issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Travel Required: Up to 25% Business Travel may be required.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year equivalent to next lower grade level developing operational research techniques to analyze large data sets; conducting decision-making analysis for a broad program operation; and performing operational studies on metadata, doctrine, materiel, or training.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
