This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as the New Parent Support Program (NPSP), Social Worker, Home Visitor (HV).
Duties
You will provide highly standardized preventive, psycho-educational, intervention services through a home visitation model for active duty military personnel and their families.
You will complete initial, and risk assessments, of each parent to include social history and the administration/scoring of the Family Needs Screener (FNS).
You will develop a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family and their unique needs.
You will continually reassess risk of family maltreatment during each home visit and serve as a role model and source of support to the family.
You will prepare case management plan and initiate appropriate prevention plans and referrals for therapy with family and others, as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess a Master of Social Work Degree from a university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
- Position is identified as having “regular contact with children."
- A criminal background/records check must be completed IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 and Army Directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015, directing a CNACI, as required for this position.
- IAW DoDI 6400.05, a current valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently is required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing intervention services through home visitations to personnel and their families; services include risk assessments, family needs, implementing prevention and safety plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Work.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
