About the Position: This is a permanent Inspector General, GS-1801-13 position located at Shaw AFB, SC.

Duties

Serves as the CIG’s senior Civilian expert and in this capacity advises the 3A/USARCENT Commanding General and principal leaders. Monitors and manages operations of the IG office. Leads IG teams on a day-to-day basis as well as during staff assistance visits and inspections of subordinate commands. Manages and makes recommended changes to internal business process, standard operating procedures, and battle rhythm events. Provides technical guidance and advice to IG staff personnel conducting investigations inquiries and assistance cases. Develops investigative or inquiry plans for an identified problem or stated allegation; gathers evidence and data required; determines witnesses to interview; and evaluates testimony and other supporting documentation. Provides technical guidance or conducts general, special, and follow-up inspections on command activities. Measures efficiency and effectiveness of command activities, placing emphasis on identifying areas of fraud, waste, and abuse.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Secret clearance required.

  • Temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 25% of the time required.
  • OGE-450 Confidential Financial Disclosure Report required.
  • This position has been designated as Key and Mission Essential.
  • Incumbent must be able to attend and pass the DA Inspector General School within one year of appointment and must attend the IG advanced course every five years.
