These positions are located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) in the organization of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Cash Management Division with the incumbent serving as a Cashier. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions, and the integration of VHA and industry best practices. These positions will be located in Las Vegas, NV.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** These positions involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs cash processing functions; Receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations for the particular transaction; Ensures the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions; Examines collections for negotiability; Examines and performs quality audits of deposits to ensure regulatory issues are met; Reconciles cash accountability and reviews vouchers for completeness, accuracy, and propriety before making payment; Refers questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement; Processes cash-link deposits and e-payments in a timely manner; Communicates with and provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures; Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately; Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Cashier GS-5. Specialized experience includes: performing cash processing functions; processing deposits; receiving and dispersing cash; reconciling cash accountability; reviewing vouchers; and preparing a variety of reports. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title; duties; month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~ COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Work is performed in a normal office environment.
