You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (INTERMEDIATE LIFE SUPPORT) in the REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.
A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary.
Duties
You will drive and operate firefighting vehicles and associated equipment or significate complexity.
You will specialize in firefighting techniques for fire hazards peculiar to airfields, such as aircraft, special weapons, hazardous materials, etc.
You will apply the full range of firefighting duties in relatively difficult situations.
You will comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
You will apply working knowledge of firefighting equipment (fire alarm system operation, foam generators, boom and ground sweep nozzles, and similar fire extinguishing equipment), techniques, and procedures.
You will have knowledge of facility layouts (including research and/or industrial complexes) and the location and operation of alarm/suppression control panels, hydrants, utility shutoffs, and suppression systems.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Firefighter certification.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current state of Hawaii EMT certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current National Registry Emergency Medical technician - Intermediate Life Support (NREMT-1) certification.

GS-08:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Applying concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; methodologies, strategies, and equipment used in prescribed fires; fire detection, prevention, and suppression strategies; 2) Applying firefighting techniques in hazardous environments; 3) Applying basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; and 4) Responding to potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release using specialized protective clothing and control equipment.
GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in firefighting techniques in hazardous environments; 2) Apply shipboard, structure firefighting, rescue operations and assisting in reducing and or eliminating potential fire hazards; 3) Performing Intermediate Life Support emergency medical procedures; and 4) Operating firefighting vehicles of significate complexity engaged in airfield and structural firefighting and crash - rescue operations.
CERTIFICATES: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-07: I am certified as a FIREFIGHTER I; FIREFIGHTER II; FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC/HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TECHNICIAN); FIREFIGHTER (INTERMEDIATE LIFE SUPPORT); FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT/HAZARDOUS MATERIAL; AIRPORT FIREFIGHTER; National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification.
The firefighter certifications must be have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do no possess all of the above certifications and you do not provide copies of each certification, you will be rated ineligible.
