About the Position: Serve as a Security Specialist for Kenner Army Health Clinic located in Fort Gregg Adams, VA.

Duties

Act as the primary advisor to the Chief, Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security, concerning security. Research and recommend a variety of physical security equipment. Prepare reports citing deficient areas and recommend corrective actions to the Chief of PTMS to reduce the vulnerabilities. Conduct in-depth investigations into losses or compromises of classified documents, material and/or equipment. Perform duties to protect personnel, facilities and Army assets against criminal or hostile activities, sabotage, unauthorized disclosure, espionage, natural disasters and terrorism. Perform duties associated with antiterrorism force protection and issues of workplace violence. Resolve conflict between physical security requirements and mission requirements without degrading the security posture for the activity. Provide security and safety briefings to personnel that are working at Kenner Army Health Clinic.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporay Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing systems, policies, and procedures to protect information, property, personnel, or operations; Analyzing the backgrounds of employees, job candidates, and others with access to sensitive information or areas; Briefing staff on security and coordinating with government civilians and/or military personnel; Conducting security inspections in compliance with regulations; AND Implementing and overseeing access control programs for facilities, ensuring eligibility for access to controlled areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Physical Security, Security Management, Criminal Justice, and Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityOral CommunicationPersonnel SecurityPhysical Security Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
