This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of General Counsel in Seattle, WA. The incumbent serves as the lead attorney in a SBA District office and is the principal legal representative for OCG in that office with the functional title of District Counsel. The incumbent provides legal advice on all aspects of the programs delivered an on the administrative operations of the office.
Duties
Advising Agency officials on all legal matters related to the Agency's various loan programs, including loan application processing, 504 loan closings, loan servicing, the liability of the Agency to purchase bank loans, loan liquidation matters and loan litigation.
Prepare and supervises the preparation of notes, mortgages, agreements and all other legal documents required by the office in delivering the loan programs.
Responsible for pre-approval of proposed loans to determine compliance with statues, regulations and stated agency policy and responsible for closings and disbursing SBA regular business loans, 504 loans and special program loans.
Legal advisor with assigned district program officials in the review of problem loans and 8(a) contracts.
Review cases in the loan portfolio and based on legal analysis determines whether litigation on behalf of the Government is required or appropriate.
Requirements

- You must successfully complete a background investigation.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a J.D. or LL.B. degree and be an active member of the bar in good standing (any jurisdiction)
GS:14 Have FOUR or more years of professional legal experience equivalent at the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector in all of the following:
bankruptcy litigation, creditor rights litigation, and real estate or business law.
