This position is located in Field Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, DISTRICT 23. As an Immigration Services Officer, you will support the adjudications process by collaborating on complex and precedent setting cases, liaise, perform analytical and evaluative work for adjudications and other program activities.

Duties

Performs analytical and evaluative work associated with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) program activities. Performs work involving the analysis of the Agency-wide impact, feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of existing and/or proposed standards, regulations, programs and policies. Serves as an authority in the interpretation of policy for national programs. Provides guidance on the adjudication of cases involving national security and egregious public safety concerns, and functions as a subject matter expert in more complex adjudications. Serves as an advisor to District Management staff by independently conducting legal research and prepare briefs/position papers recommending policies and procedures to enhance Field Office operations. Works collaboratively with the Records, Customer Service and Performance Management Quality Assurance units to furnish administrative, technical guidance and assistance to Regional, District and Field Office Management. Support the adjudications process by ensuring program quality assurance, serving as liaison, leading regional and national workgroups, communicating decisions and independently conducting research in support of field, HQs, and Regional programs. Develops standard operating policies and procedures designed to detect and prevent benefit fraud, and monitor progress to determine if objectives are being met.

This position is with the United States Citizenship and Immigrations Services located in the Field Operations Directorate located in District S23 in sunny Tampa, Fl. The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 11/01/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 11/01/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing guidance, direction and support on policy matters for immigration services. Assisting in planning, managing and directing immigration operations. Performing analytical and evaluative work associated with immigration program activities. Advising and making final determinations on complex immigration cases involving eligibility for citizenship and immigration benefits. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer service.

Education

EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

Training: If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend and complete a USCIS Officer training course. This is typically provided through a blended approach of virtual instruction followed by in-residence instruction at a training venue. Training must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion or separation by appropriate procedures.
