You will serve as a Material Examiner and Identifier (Forklift Operator) in the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will follow work sequence instructions to perform assigned tasks related to material examination and identification. You will classify materials and equipment by number, size, classification, and condition. You will assess the condition of highly specialized materials and equipment to determine correct disposition. You will examine items to determine their characteristics. You will brief and update the immediate depot supervisor of product discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing duties such as: Sorting materials by type and operating forklifts and motor vehicles while ensuring accuracy Examining items to determine their characteristics and verifying measurements, disassembling equipment as necessary for thorough examinations, and making precise identifications using technical manuals, working drawings, or blueprints. Identifying product discrepancies and promptly briefing and updating the supervisor Having an in-depth knowledge of numerous material examining and identify technical practices, methods, and procedures used in processing material into and out of the property disposal and reutilization system. Performing required annual inventories, as an Asset Management inventory team member when required.
