This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Electro-Machinist Division DCF. As a Intermediate Electro-Machinist (Machinist), you will serve a four-year training program and receive progressive on-the-job training supplemented by related didactic instruction in either the machinist or the electrical/electronic craft, which will qualify the trainee to perform the tasks of a journeyman Electro-Machinist.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the WE-2. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
EMs install, repair, modify, fabricate, and replace a range of computerized, electronic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical, industrial printing processes and equipment components as well as other complex and sophisticated related equipment.
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance; equipment installation, assembly, and dismantling; production line equipment and manufacturing problem analysis and resolution.
Locate, install, assemble, and otherwise prepare all production and production related equipment that comes into the facility, often in conjunction with factory installation technicians.
Assist production personnel in the determination of manufacturing problems and their causes.
Designing and creating computer programs for production equipment modifications.
***BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.
