About the Position:
This position is located in Andersen, Guam.
Andersen Air Force Base is located in the village of Yigo, on the northern end of Guam, about 15 miles from the capital, Hagatna.
This position is covered by the Classified Federal Education Association Stateside Region 2396 bargaining unit.
Federal employees in Guam may be entitled to receive a 12.04% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) and a 20% Post Differential Allowance in addition to the base salary.
Duties
Review outgoing correspondence for format, grammar, accuracy, conformance to office policy, completeness and coherence, and consistency.
Prepare a variety of memoranda, documents, and forms.
Compile information for reports.
Maintain an office calendar and suspense files.
Receive calls, greets visitors, and direct inquiries.
Provide information and guidance on school procedures, reports, and requirements, as well as school programs, policies, procedures, and activities.
Maintain time and attendance records.
Control the issuance of office and/or school keys.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience GS-5: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software to prepare correspondence; reviewing correspondence to ensure accuracy; and maintaining office records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience GS-6: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software to develop correspondence; scheduling appointments and/or meetings; maintaining time, attendance, and/or leave records; and compiling employee personnel information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
GS-5 and below positions: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.
