Duties

Investigates stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances and submits Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) to responsible the agency. Edits Government Credit Card (GPC) Purchase Requests for operational and other shortage procurement items requiring special handling where established procedures are not applicable. Enters item descriptions for new items and screens the Base Operating Supply System (BOSS) to detect duplicate or similar items that can fulfill need. Prepares solicitations, evaluates quotes, and exercises options. Edits supply requests such as customer order documents for supplies and repair parts; sole source justifications and order documents; procurement requests; and customer standard return documents. Completes required transactions to include requisitions for urgent critical shortage items and other items requiring special handling where established procedures are not applicable. Initiates supply support and cataloging requests which include activity control number codes and data, available item management coding data, technical data and item application data and justification. Reconciles billing and purchases on a monthly statement of account. Reviews all procurements and verifies the method for which the items will be procured.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supply Technician (Office Automation), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducting physical inventories Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed Use of technical orders and technical manuals to edit, code, and classify complex customer requisitions; and to ensure total acquisition support for operations involving urgent, critical shortage, or items requiring special handling procedures. Familiarity with the Federal Cataloging system and the Item Identification system to recognize missing descriptions, to write item descriptions for new items, and to perform extensive research. Ability to conduct market research to determine market conditions and modes of transportation used within the United States. B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. C. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The work frequently requires physical effort such as standing, bending, walking, climbing steps and carrying of items up to 40pounds. There are requirements to count inventories, stock shelves, repalletizing supplies with heavy lifting at times, in shop buildings / warehouses and outside areas where there may be uneven surfaces. Work Environment: The employee performs work in a typical office setting involving everyday risks and discomforts. Normal safety precautions are exercised. Employee may be required to use protective gear, such as safety boots, goggles, or gloves in warehouse environments where there is material handling equipment in the operation

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
