THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for a PLUMBER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0278000 and is part of the FL 202nd Red Horse SQ, National Guard.

Duties

As a Plumber, WG-4206-09, you will install and repair interior pipe systems and plumbing fixtures and appurtenances. Install and maintain pipe systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment. Install, test, troubleshoot and repair pipe systems designed to conduct flow of hot and cold water, and interior sewage. Install and maintain pipe systems located above, under and on the ground; in, on and between walls, floors and ceilings; and, at mobile and stationary missile facilities. Install plumbing fixtures, appliances, potable and non-potable water, interior sewage, and air and gas systems. Connect pipe sections using fittings and soldering, brazing, or packing oakum and lead will or hot head. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs duties which require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms, and where parts of systems worked on are in hard-to-reach places. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. Inside work is usually in buildings, adequately heated, lighted and ventilated. Noise from saws, hammers and power tools is frequent. Dust, mud, dirt and snow are prevalent on construction sites. Has occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones, cuts. electrical Shocks. and respiratory ailments. Has frequent exposure to the possibility of Scrapes, burns, and infections. Exposure to repeated, prolonged or concentrated amounts of refrigerant gases may cause toxic effects to eyes. skin, and internal organs.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted; E1 thru E6. GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Must have experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of standard plumbing methods and techniques. Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the plumbing trade and to read and interpret directions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-09 Must have at least 18 months experience or training using plumb tools such as bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, and lead pots. Experience installing and operating new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Experience working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches. Experience planning and laying out routing placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.
