This position is located in Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, in the Resource Management Division.
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
Duties
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the pest controller responsible for the control of invasive plants, invasive animals, plant diseases and pest invertebrates in natural areas. Develops and implements chemical and manual techniques and determines optimum control schedule to effectively manage target species.
Safely handles, applies, maintains and stores chemicals, tools, machinery and equipment in compliance with OSHA, EPA, NPS and all applicable federal state and local laws, regulations, and policies.
Trains and mentors lower-grade WG pest control workers and helpers in mixing and applying pesticides. Plans and assigns work sequences.
Monitors and records treatment activities in the field; summarizes treatments and efficacy for reports. Consults with Federal, State and local subject matter experts and applies principles of Integrated Pest Management in control of target species.

Qualifications

You must possess a State of Hawaii Certificate for Commercial Applicators of Restricted Pesticides (Category 2 - Forest Pest Control), by the closing date of this announcement. Failure to possess and provide this certificate will result in your being determined ineligible.
