About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This position will be filled as a TERM appointment not to exceed (NTE) 13 months.

Duties

Provide transportation support services to military, government civilian and contractor personnel assigned to military units, garrison, and tenant activities within the geographic area of responsibility. Serve as subject matter expert on transportation and traffic management issues, policies, procedures, and related issues. Participate in conferences with personnel from higher headquarters to ensure effective management and administration of division activities. Inspect activities for compliance with policy, regulatory and program requirements; recommend, initiate, or direct corrective actions. Provide guidance to appointed Commercial Travel Office (CTO) and Direct Procurement Method (DPM) Contracting Officer’s Representative and Alternate Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR/ACOR). Implement policies, programs, and systems based on guidance and directives of higher headquarters; promote effectiveness, improve techniques, and reduce unit cost for transportation services. Perform long-range planning for accomplishing the transportation mission of the installation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 10% of the time away from your permanent duty station.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Overseeing transportation services which coordinate commercial movement of property and/or personnel; 2) Monitoring contractor performance for compliance to contractual terms; AND, 3) Recommending course of action on the technical processes that impact transportation operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
