About the Position: This position is located in the Materials Management Department at the Naval Health Clinic Quantico. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the duties of a medical supply materials handler for the main and outlying clinics.

Duties

Responsible for the storage and space utilization. Manage variety of hazardous materials and remain cognizant of specialized handling and storage requirements for each item, taking appropriate precautions for all hazardous materials. Receive, store, select and ship general/specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment for the command in support of the beneficiaries of the Naval Health Clinic Quantico. Coordinate the receipt processing of all Prime Vendor Supplies, Accountable/Non-Accountable Equipment and other general materials in Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to ensure proper distribution. Load and unload shipment from trucks and other material conveyances. Ensure the warehouse is kept free and clear of any potential hazards.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

I can check and assemble materials, process shipping/distribution documents, route materials and equipment to correct locations or storage areas; unpack boxes, cartons, and other containers and disassembles and distributes unit loads received; check supplies for nomenclature, stock number, quantity and condition. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Materials handlers are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Material handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
