This position is located in Gateway National Recreation Area, in the Facilities and Management Division.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
Duties
MAJOR DUTIES
Provide technical and administrative supervision over subordinates performing various trades and labor occupations such as Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Mason, Utility Systems Repairer-Operator, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, High Voltage Electrician, Plumber,
Wood Crafter, Carpenter, etc.
Provide professional and technical support and knowledge on utilities, trades, and crafts such as electrical, HVAC, potable water system operation, drainage, storm and sanitary sewer systems, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting.
Perform various administrative functions as a supervisor, such as preparing personnel packages for recruiting, classification, on- and off-boarding, etc.; preparing and implementing short term work plans in collaboration with the Unit Facilities Manager; providing input to higher-level managers on long-term planning; assigning, directing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of subordinates; scheduling work operations; reviewing and approving payroll, leave, and extra hours requests; determining material, equipment, and training needs.
Responsible for on-the-job safety and health of all employees supervised. Identifies and corrects job safety and health hazards, instructs employees on safety requirements of job assignments, reviews and reports lost-time accidents in accordance with NPS policies and regulations.
Responsible for keeping current with management's role and responsibilities in labor/management relations.
May serve as Project Supervisor, Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), and/or Agreements Technical Representative (ATR) on facility related projects.
Conducts yearly and comprehensive inspections on buildings and structures.

Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
