You will serve as a WELDER in the EXPEDITIONARY MAINTENANCE CENTER of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.
Duties
You will plan and lay out the work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
You will repair a variety of construction and transportation equipment such as trailers, trucks, tractors, road graders, cranes, generators, road rollers and pumps.
You will use acetylene, heli-arc and electric welding torches, perform tube, cluster, butt lapped and flange welding on all types of metal including aluminum, steel,
copper, brass, and cast iron.
You will operate various types of Alternating Current (A.C.) and Direct Current (D.C.) electric arc welding equipment, portable, automatic and semi-automatic, with carbon and metallic electrodes and inert gas shielded and flux shielded methods.
You will use templates in measuring, marketing, scribing and cutting metals.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Welding, in limited combinations, conducting a variety of electric and gas resistance welding processes such as electron and beam welding; 2) Assembling and setting up parts to be welded; 3) Making the required welds following guides such as resistance welding control charts, specifications, accepted shop practices, and oral and written instructions from the supervisor. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
