About the Position: This position is located with the Naval Hospital DIR of Resource Management, Material Management department, with a duty location of Beaufort, South Carolina. This position is a part of the Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency.
Duties
Purchase a wide range of standard commercial items, employing a variety of purchasing methods to obtain goods and services that will fill the requirements.
Purchase technical items, such as parts and components needed for maintenance, overhaul and repair of medical electronic equipment, or specialized machinery.
Purchase technical services, such as calibration, routine and emergent repair of specialized technical medical equipment.
During the purchasing process the purchasing agent will remain in contact with the ordering office and supple personnel to discuss quotes that differ from the original order.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Tier 1: This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- Influenza: This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 1-5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes purchasing standard items to fill requirements, coordinating equipment repair, and discussing information with ordering office such as substitutions, quotes, or deliveries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
