Duties

Serving as a Investigator GS-1810-12 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is within the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) under the Deputy Director's (DD) Office and located in Glynco, Georgia. OPR is charged with ensuring the integrity and security of FLETC through the investigation of alleged misconduct involving FLETC staff, students, or contractors, as well as any crime occurring on FLETC property. Typical duties include: Planning and conducting, and coordinating investigations related to alleged or suspected administrative misconduct, fraud, or other violations.

  • Current and former federal employees within the General Schedule (GS) must meet the time-in-grade requirements outlined in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement.
  • Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit covered position, represented under the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU).
  • This is a non-bargaining unit position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license to conduct official government business.

You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service: conducting investigations related to non-criminal misconduct such as harassment, fraternization, lack of candor, academic cheating, false claims, retaliation, misuse of resources or position, prohibited personnel practices, time and attendance fraud, unauthorized disclosures, ethics violations, hostile work environment, and policy violations. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. Physical Demands: This position is primarily sedentary in nature, but may require occasionally moderate physical exertion involving movement through training venues, exterior locations, and other workspace to gather information, collect evidence, and conduct investigative activities. Position requires the ability to drive a government-owned or -leased vehicle to perform duties at locations both on and off campus. Work Environment: The position primarily operates in an office setting and other controlled environments (e.g., interview room, conference room, classroom, etc.). The incumbent may operate in active training areas across a large campus where law enforcement training is being conducted, and may be required to conduct interviews, evidence collection, and other activities in outdoor environments involving extreme heat, inclement weather, etc. Such exposure will generally be for limited duration only. Work is generally performed during normal business hours, but may involve occasional overtime, nights, or weekends.
