You will serve as a Personnel Security Specialist in the Platform Support Directorate division of NMRTC SAN DIEGO CA.
Duties
You will establish and maintain the Information and Personnel Security Program for NMCSD and its Branch Medical/ Dental clinics.
You will monitor, direct, and develop command procedures for the classified Material Control Program.
You will handle classified and sensitive materials to include receipt, storage, distribution, accountability, classification, transfer, and destruction.
You will develop, direct, and monitor command policies and procedures for access to restricted, limited, or controlled areas.
You will provide authoritative information and assistance to command officials on all security topics.
You will recommend security practices to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
You will Conduct security reviews for all visits, briefings, and written statements.
You will review security investigated packages for military, civilian, and contract personnel for accuracy.
You will develop, implement, and administer an on-going security education and awareness program.
You will determine suitability/ security eligibility of employees for retention in assigned positions.
You will coordinate with Command Automated Data Processing and Physical Security Offices on matters of concern.
You will work closely with civilian position classifiers to ensure that proper “sensitive” designations are made on all civilian position descriptions.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing personnel security investigation documents for completion; 2) Initiating security clearance requests and determining security clearance eligibility; 3) Developing and implementing Personnel Security policies and procedures; and 4) Maintaining current background investigation records and security clearance files.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent
