About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Visual Information Specialist at HQ SDDC, preparing graphics for Commander Conferences, symposiums, and command-level meetings, supporting briefings on various subjects to enhance visual communication for the Command Staff.

Duties

Consult with SDDC Command Staff to provide expert guidance on visual information and product development. Manage the production of graphic, text, video, and photographic materials, ensuring creative originality and technical quality. Design and develop visual content for printed, digital, and interactive media tailored to project requirements and target audiences. Make decisions on visual methods for presenting illustrations, photos, charts, animations, and models across various media. Plan and coordinate multimedia projects by utilizing advanced techniques in 2D/3D graphics, military symbols, and interactive displays. Oversee the design and logistics of exhibits to ensure effective communication of requirements using appropriate visual media. Meet with requesters/customers to gather ideas and objectives, creating designs that attract attention and convey key messages.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Performing basic photo editing and image manipulation using standard software tools to enhance visual products; (2) Researching visual content sources such as stock photography or icons to recommend appropriate selections for projects; and (3) Organizing and/or maintaining digital photo libraries for quick access during projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Designing and producing visual materials such as graphics, illustrations, and multimedia presentations to support command briefings and conferences; (2) Advising personnel on visual information policies to ensure compliance in all visual materials; and (3) Providing technical expertise on the development and production of multimedia materials, including video and photographic content. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
