Salary: $19 - 23 per hour

About the Position: Directorate of Public Works (DPW) mission is to provide maintenance, repairs and improvements to real property assets such as buildings, structures, utilities, roads, grounds and helicopter pad to Fort Buchanan.

Duties

Serve as a working leader of 4-12 employees who perform a variety of duties concerned with a Laborer position. Exercise extreme caution and good judgment following security and safety guidelines and regulations in all phases of work. Pass on to other workers instructions received from Supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Ensure that needed materials, tools, and equipment are obtained and available. Perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade, craft, or warehousing activities requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on previous similar assignments.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement occasionally.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Skill in applying basic palletizing techniques and utilizing hand trucks, flatbeds, and other manual equipment for inventory management. Knowledge of fundamental postal regulations pertaining to mail handling.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Indoors, the worker may be exposed to hot and cold drafts, dust, and noise. There is a chance ofinjury, such as, cuts, bruises, strains, and scrapes.
