This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for Domestic DIB & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Collect, reduce, display, analyze data, and provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Prepare reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision-making process for the development of documents used for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) certification.
Apply a practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and practices to repair test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
Implement, adapt, modify and periodically develop technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 Years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of10% of the time.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of repairing test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment, interpreting schematics, and applying electronic theories in collecting measurement data. Assist in the use of instrument application and calibration requirements for equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
