We expect to fill three vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.
Duties
Perform duties as a maintenance worker including facilities, grounds maintenance, and equipment maintenance. Tasks include carpentry, painting, plumbing, cement finishing, motor vehicle operator and warehouse worker.
Basic repair of plumbing in buildings, potable water systems and irrigation systems. Services and maintains equipment and making repairs as needed including scheduled maintenance.
Measure, cut, construct, repair, or modify different materials such as wood, composite, piping, and concrete. Construct and repair items as needed from layman’s oral descriptions.
Basic shop mathematics and skill using measuring tapes, squares, levels, and other carpentry tools to plan, lay out, measure, cut construct and install materials.
Operate machinery and equipment in a safe mode as prescribed by technical manuals and safety reports.
Repairing or replacing doors and walls surfaces; repairing or replacing fences, posts, barriers, signs, bulletin boards, and assists with repairing kiosks; repainting or staining buildings and other structures
Requirements

Qualifications for the WG-07 Maintenance Worker:
I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex duties as a Maintenance Worker. I am skilled in machinery repair, carpentry, plumbing systems (unclog drains, repair leaks), minor electrical repairs (change light bulbs, replace outlets and switches), performing general carpentry on existing facilities and new construction, and other hand operated equipment.
I have the ability to perform the full range of duties as a Maintenance Worker. I am skilled in machinery repair, plumbing systems (unclog drains, repair leaks), minor electrical repairs (change light bulbs, replace outlets and switches), performing general carpentry on existing facilities and new construction. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
I have the ability to perform common duties as a Maintenance Worker performing machinery repair, plumbing systems (unclog drains, repair leaks), minor electrical repairs (change light bulbs, replace outlets and switches), performing general carpentry on existing facilities and/or new construction.
I have the ability to perform simple and a variety of basic maintenance repairs on equipment. I have received training on the use of various power tools.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: Position requires extensive physical activity in an outdoor environment, such as lifting and carrying loads up to 100 pounds. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment. Will have to wear some protective devices when operating noisy and dusty machines and on construction/maintenance sites. The incumbent will frequently be required to work in awkward or strained positions. The work will be very tiring due to the above conditions performed over extended periods of time.
Work Environment: Duties are primarily performed out of doors and periods of time in the field are to be expected. Work is performed in all types of weather. The incumbent will be exposed to fuel, grease, fumes, smoke, noise, vibration, dust, mud and ice. Clothing and skin will become dirty, muddy and greasy. There are many potential hazards while performing maintenance work. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning or tools malfunctioning. Incumbent should be alert to these hazards and be prepared to cope with them before they become a problem. The incumbent must be able to work in temperatures ranging from below 0 to above 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
A variety of repairs are regularly required on the administrative and recreational site facilities involving carpentry, electrical knowledge, concrete and plumbing work. Incumbent will assess all electrical, plumbing and structural problems promptly, in a safe and efficient manner to determine whether the problem can be corrected internally or will require a contract. Responsible for coordination and administration of any major physical plant jobs identified and funded through deferred maintenance. The incumbent is responsible for the general service, maintenance, repair and modification of tools and equipment.

This position falls under the Job Element standards for the WG-4749 - General Maintenance and Operations Family occupational series.
There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level.
