This position is located in the Business Office at the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK. The primary responsibility of this position is to obtain and process demographic and third-party resource information from patients, assist patients with registration, and provide information regarding eligibility services. The incumbent will report to the Registration Supervisor.
Duties
Interview patients to obtain pertinent patient registration information and verify patient eligibility.
Assist patients in complete all forms needed for patient registration, admission, authorizations, pre-admission, or surgical procedures.
Obtain, verify, and update as needed patient health record numbers, demographic information, and third party resource information.
Utilize check in/check out procedures for all patients.
Provide tactful and professional customer service to patients.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Applicants must meet the following typing proficiency:40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: providing patient registration and eligibility services information interacting with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, private and commercial insurance.
OR
Have 4 years of education above the high school level.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-05 grade level.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: receive and direct patients and visitors, answering routine inquiries, and making appropriate referral of questions concerning patients' condition, use and apply medical terminology, determine eligibility requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans' Health, and Vocational Rehabilitation, enforce and work with laws and regulations related to the confidentiality of medical records and the release of information from medical records, computerized data entry and information systems.
Typing Proficiency Requirement: Type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
