The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 27 SOW/IP.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Information Protection Office, ensuring the safeguarding and effective management of information complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Represents the Information Protection Office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Administers information protection programs to assure secure accomplishment of all Wing missions, goals, and objectives through proactive application of information protection principles, policies, and practices.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes directs a program segment that performs technical, administrative, protective, investigative, or professional work. The incumbent provides management oversight for day-to-day activities of an Information Protection Agency comprised of multiple, disparate programs. Serves as a strategic advisor to other commanders on issues involved with military and civilian personnel, official records, sensitive information, and classified material. The position directs short- and long-range programs, addressing a broad range of Department of Defense and Air Force needs and interests. Provides complex administrative and technical services that directly affect a special operations composite wing with a population of more than 5,000 personnel.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Mastery knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
In-depth knowledge of a wide range of information management specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology, and practices.
Thorough knowledge of analytical theories, processes, programs, and practices.
Sophisticated understanding and skill in applying broad or in-depth analytical expertise in highly complex and ambiguous situations (ODNI Proficiency Level 4 - Expert)
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of a staff in a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
