You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will assign environmental protection work based on skill level, strengths, weaknesses, and priorities to improve workflow efficiency.
You will provide feedback on employee performance expectations with environmental work to improve development and
performance.
You will develop and implement spill prevention, control and countermeasure planning, and emergency response actions in
compliance with environmental protection regulations.
You will oversee contractor actions to verify coordination and conformance with installation spill prevention and hazardous waste
handling requirements.
You will monitor oil and hazardous substance storage processes to ensure compliance with environmental protection regulations.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Conducting evaluations of environmental compliance inspections and evaluations of environmental quality programs; 2) Identifying non-complying hazardous waste procedures using environmental regulations and requirements and controls; 3) Evaluating environmental consequences of actions, operations, tests, etc., in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA); 4) Preparing performance plans and formal performance appraisals for subordinate employees; 5) Communicating both orally and in writing. ***NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.
