The purpose of this position is to provide quality food service to patients, employees and guests through food preparation, service, and sanitation. This position is located at the Dietary Department, Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
Prepares beverage, uncooked food items, nourishments, supplemental feedings and special formula according to standardize recipes.
Prepares and delivers nourishments to care areas.
Serves and replenishes cafeteria lines at scheduled times.
Maintains a sanitary, safe working environment for employees and food production.
Maintains pertinent patient diet records.
Properly prepares work orders in writing.
Attends all mandatory in-services and training.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
WG03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: performing Food Service Worker duties in a medical or nonmedical institution including: preparation of all types of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits, sauces, and gravies and prepare, cook, season, following standardized recipes.
Physical Effort: some food service workers at this level may be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing Large-size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. They also may be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
Working Conditions: The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
