The Supervisory Motor Carrier Safety Specialist (Border Operations Manager) for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Western Service Region, serves as a leader field operations and facilities for Land Ports of Entry along the U.S. border with Mexico. Provides technical review over all activity, suggestion, and other information to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize. You must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English & Spanish.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.To qualify for the Grade 12, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 it must include: Experience applying laws, regulations, precedent decisions, interpretations, and critical issues related to motor carrier safety and the Federal compliance enforcement program, including those concerned with hazardous materials. Experience planning, managing and evaluating Federal Motor Carrier Safety programs. Experience interpreting and analyzing motor carrier laws and regulations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Organizational Awareness - Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization. Planning and Evaluating - Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes. Workforce Planning - Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices related to determining workload projections and current and future competency gaps to align human capital with organizational goals. Writing (†) - Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a brief, clear, and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
