The psychologist serves as the Whole Health Clinical Director at the Dayton VA Medical Center. The psychologist in this position provides program oversight and administrative coordination of the Whole Health System. This Director contributes significantly to the level of health care provided by this agency. This position reports directly to the Whole Health Coordinator.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Maintains inventory of Complementary and Integrated Health (CIH) approaches offered at VHA facility, including gap analysis as it relates to CIH approaches that must be offered by VA/community per Directive 1137. Additionally, the incumbent will be a collaborative leader with clinical leadership supporting and ensuring compliance of the Complementary and Integrated Health Services.
Coordinates the development and implementation of the patient-centered care concept throughout the organization. Uses individual and aggregate needs assessments, standards of professional practice, and strategic plans in the process of program development.
Guides the staff in the application of patient-centered care concepts.
Chairs the Whole Health Steering Committee
Develops clinics and systems (including documentation templates) required for the delivery of Whole Health Veteran services to include, but not limited to), coaching and Veteran education courses.
Leads, facilitates, and evaluates system changes that support meeting performance measure goals and thus effective patient outcomes.
Facilitates process improvement in programs/systems that enhance healthcare delivery; analyzes program/system outcomes and plans strategies to initiate needed change.
Acts as a consultant in patient-centered care principles and performance measures.
Effectively uses group process, interpersonal, and communication skills to facilitate win outcomes in a positive and productive working environment.
Uses knowledge, expertise, principles or models, and current research to plan, implement, and evaluate organizational progress towards accomplishing patient-centered care initiatives. Also uses data trends and patterns which indicate need for change.
Serves as the liaison between the medical center, patients and staff, and the community regarding the patient experience, patient rights and advocacy.
Leads Whole Health to provide robust Whole Health Veteran Education and Coaching services.
Provides annual whole health business plan and program reports as required by VA leadership.
Develops budget requests and manage Whole Health resources.
Ensures inventory procedures and logistical procedures for all Whole Health supplies.
Utilizes political savvy communication and build relationships with members of the Whole Health team including VA Central Office and VISN 10 Whole Health Leadership.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations: Qualifications: Psychologists hired at all grade levels must meet the basic requirements for employment as a VHA Psychologist prescribed by Public Law 96-151 codified in Title 38, U.S.C. § 7402. Requirements include:
Citizenship of the Unites States of America.
Doctoral degree in psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited graduate program in an area of training consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
Internship in professional psychology accredited by the APA.
Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the US, or the District of Columbia.
For GS-13 and higher, must have at least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, and must fully meet the KSAs for that level.

Knowledge of and ability to utilize evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines appropriately and ability to guide staff in using these tools.

Skill in managing and directing the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives.
Ability to translate management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations.
Ability to establish and monitor production and performance priorities and standards.
Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program.
Skill in assessing qualifications and abilities of current and prospective employees.
Skill in interpersonal relationships, including conflict resolution.
General Psychology KSAs:
Knowledge of, and ability to apply, advanced professional psychological theories and techniques to the full range of patient populations.
Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.
Knowledge of clinical research literature
