About the Position: This position is located Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County, Florida.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Oversee physical examinations and medical records for individuals selected for overseas/deployments to determine eligibility for worldwide duty, as well as patients being discharged/transferred from hospitals.
Provide quality control review of health records to determine administrative accuracy, to include physical examination requirements, accurate physical profile identification of allergies, and any disqualifying medical conditions.
Review and process individual cross-training requests, special duty applications, deployment clearances, and security clearances to determine if applicants meet required standards.
Conduct audiograms for personnel enrolled in hearing conservation programs or on flying status, and examine ears for abnormalities.
Manage the epidemiology process by conducting surveillance studies, research and investigating data trends.
Educate overseas deploying personnel on country specific disease trends, health risks, food and water safety, personal hygiene and preventive health measures.
Manage occupational health examination data, identifying personnel requiring occupational health examinations and monitoring results of occupational health examinations to detect adverse trends and investigates occupational illnesses.
Administer communicable disease prevention and control program through patient interviews, health education and oversight of immunization strategy.
Inspect food and public facilities, evaluating sanitation practices, food handling, identifying health concerns and provide training or make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position requires Tuberculosis Testing and/or record of Tuberculosis Testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing health information; conducting hearing screenings and providing administrative support for medical/health promotion programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the nextlower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Public Health.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
