About the Position: This position will execute telecommunications responsibilities for Headquarters, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. Position may be filled at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama or Peterson AFB, Colorado The US Army Space & Missile Defense Command is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Duties

Lead telecommunications project with peers, customers, engineers, and service providers within and outside of Department of Defense Organizations. Develop procedural guidance to maintain enterprise circuits, telecommunications systems, related infrastructure equipment, and inside copper and fiber cable plant. Identify telecommunications problems to resolve on-the-spot, refer to appropriate authority, or develop innovative solutions. Apply knowledge of optical and packet switched networks, Internet Protocol (IP) transport, circuit conditioning and switching principles to a wide variety of complex telecommunications challenges.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
  • This position may require both CONUS and potentially OCONUS travel.
  • This position may be subject to on-call support to maintain mission essential IT systems.
