Duties
You will serve as a senior scientific representative.
You will utilize professional independence to apply technical expertise in developing, managing, and teaching occupational health and environmental related subjects.
You will develop, direct, and teach professional classroom and web- based training in a wide range of subjects related to industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
You will plan, coordinate, and interface with Echelon 2 and 3 levels on a regular basis to determine annual training needs.
You will develop, budgets, and schedules for training to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
You will serve as a senior education expert in defining, evaluating, and expanding areas of training methodology.
You will use expert knowledge of the function, calibration, and field operation of scientific monitoring equipment used in occupational and environmental health evaluations.
You will provide senior level technical expertise in the field of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
You will provide technical expertise to the Navy Environmental Readiness Training Program for environmental training, including instructor duties, course developer, and scientific subject matter expert.
Requirements

- You will be required to drive various size rental cars/vehicles.

- You will be required to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- You will be required to properly wear personal protective equipment, when necessary, appropriate to the type of training and/or demonstrations conducted.
- You will be required to attend, and successfully complete command designated instructor training course(s).
- You will be required to pack, handle and travel with multiple boxes and wheeled cases weighing 25 to 50 pounds each.
- You may be required to travel approximately 25% up to 50% of the year.
- You must meet all requirements within the timelines prescribed by the Command.
Qualifications
You must meet the Basic Requirement for one of the following job series GS-1301 Physical Scientist; GS-0819 Environmental Engineer; GS-690 Industrial Hygienist; GS-0401 Life Scientist. See the "Education" section of this announcement for details.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement for one of the job series, your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public using professional knowledge of industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices and knowledge in a broad range of environmental, chemical, and physical factors and stressors involved in and resulting from industrial operations performing the following:
1) Developing, directing, and/or teaching professional classroom and/or web- based training in subjects related to the scientific application of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental protection. 2) Instructing students in the use of the function, calibration, and field operation of scientific monitoring equipment used in occupational and environmental health evaluations. 3) Reading, comprehending, and interpreting federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and standards related to the field of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental protection. 4) Developing highly effective classroom training plans in a broad range of highly technical and complex subjects 5) Using knowledge of workplace hazard control options to serve as a technical authority providing expert advice and direction 6) Selecting teaching strategies using appropriate models, and/or assisting in developing course plans for instructors.
